"Who do you think you are, God?"  Sometimes people can be accused of acting like God in a particular situation.

Ephesians 4.17-32

Explore:  "Who do you think you are, God?"  Sometimes people can be accused of acting like God in a particular situation.  However it is usually said in a negative way and exclaimed when someone is showing some authority or control over a group of people.  When the writer of Ephesians unpacts our Godly behaviour he does not speak of being in control, showing arrogance or causing negative feelings in others.  The passage goes on to explain attributes such as speaking truth, resolving anger, sharing with others and building others up.

Application:  When we learn more about God we realise how far we are from being God-like.  And yet as Christians it is how we aim to live each day.  Through scripture we are given many examples of how we should live to be more like God.  Often we only focus on the power and authority and yet you can not read the life of Jesus without seeing a life that was sacrificial, loving, compassionate and humble.  These are all characteristics that we must aim to embody to be more like God today.

Prayer:  Lord, you are the God that turns the market tables in the synagogue but also the God that blesses the little children.  May we continue to learn more about you so that we can be your light in this world.  Amen.
