While it is important to gather together to worship our Almighty Creator, we must also remember not to limit our worship to one place or one time.
We should never limit ourselves to human opinion but live in the vast opportunity of God's power. Acts 7.30-38 Reference: v. 35 "It was this Moses whom they rejected when they said, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge?' and whom God now sent as both ruler and liberator through the angel who appeared to him in the bush. (NRSV Bible)
We often turn from God's purpose and waste time on what is more comfortable for us, but God will always do His best to call us back to Him.
Acts 7.17-29 Reference: v.22 Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action. (NIV Bible)
If we are open to learning more about Jesus we will then have a greater understanding of our purpose today. Acts 7.1-16 Reference: v.2 To this he replied: "Brothers and fathers, listen to me! The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham while he was still in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran..." (NIV Bible)
While we can not cater to every person's whim, it is important to address issues as they arise and work towards supporting the whole community. Acts 6.1-15 Reference: v.1 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. (NIV Bible)
We may not live in a country that will flog you for being a Christian, but sometimes I think we act like we do. Acts 5.12-42 Reference: v. 41 The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. (NIV Bible)
The intention behind our actions is often more powerful than the actions themselves. Acts 4.32-5.11 Reference: v.5.2 With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles' feet. (NIV Bible)
Peter and John had been in jail for one night but returned to the other believers for support and encouragement. Acts 4.23-31 Reference: v.23 On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. (NIV Bible)
Peter did a full turn around from someone who denied Jesus to someone who put their own life on the line to proclaim His name. Acts 4.1-22 Reference: v.20 "For we can not help speaking about what we have seen and heard." (NIV Bible)
I love trees. My family are always paying me out because I always spot a beautiful tree no matter where we are. I love the varied colours in the bark, the formation of the branches. I seem to see God through trees as I experience their beauty, their strength and the majesty. |
