Acts 7.17-29
Reference: v.22 Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action. (NIV Bible)
Explore: I had forgotten that Moses was 'powerful in speech and action'. The Moses I recall is standing before the burning bush, stuttering and saying, 'no Lord, not me.' And yet 40 years earlier we hear that he was educated and forthright.
Application: This teaches me two things:
1. When we sin and turn away from our purpose, we can waste a lot of time in the desert. Moses had much power in his situation but because he broke the law and killed a man he changed the course of his life for 40 years. God had a plan for him to be in Egypt and Moses ran away from it.
2. God will always call us back. Even before Christ died on the cross, our God was gracious and He persuaded Moses to come back to fulfil his purpose and bring the Israelites out of slavery.
We often turn from God's purpose and waste time on what is more comfortable for us, but God will always do His best to call us back to Him.
Prayer: Lord, forgive me for my selfishness. It always seems like the easy road is just to please my self. Don't give up on me. Allow me to keep hearing your voice. Amen.
