Thinking of You

Posted by Linda Bailey in supportREAPGenesisencouragement

If I have not thought of a friend for quite some time and then suddenly they pop into my head, I make sure that I make contact with them to let them know they are in my thoughts.

Genesis 40:1-23

Reference:  v.23  The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.

Explore:  I have a fairly average memory.  It doesn't fail me every time but enough to make me weary.  My techniques to counter this fault is to cling tightly to my diary and write a lot of lists.  A more recent technique is to take notice when something does actually come to mind.  If I have not thought of a friend for quite some time and then suddenly they pop into my head, I make sure that I make contact with them to let them know they are in my thoughts.  This isn't a difficult task just one that I have come to prioritize as sometimes that small bit of contact has become quite meaningful.

Application:  Poor Joseph was not remember as he sat in jail.  He did not have family to come and care for his needs and even his newly released friend had forgotten him.  His pain and loneliness was expressed beautifully in the song 'Close Every Door To Me' written for the Joseph and His Technicolour Dreamcoat musical.  And yet, there are many lonely people in our society.  We can be surrounded by people and yet still feel lonely and forgotten.  When someone comes to your mind, I encourage you to let them know you are thinking of them.  It doesn't take much, maybe a text, note, Facebook message, phone call.  We must continue to reach out and let people know that they are thought of and cared for.

Prayer:  Lord, you promise to always be there for us and never leave us.  May we express our thanks to You by caring for those around us.  Amen.

Who comes to mind for you today?  How can you let them know you are thinking of them?
