While a spider has many uses for a web, it is easily damaged.

2 Kings 21:1-26

Explore: Spiders are incredible creatures.  While I’m never too keen to get very close to them, I can truly appreciate their skill and creativity in spinning a web.  I remember learning in primary school that spiders will remake their web nearly every day.  If you see a broken web then it is likely that the spider has moved on.  While a spider has many uses for a web, it is easily damaged.  You would think a spider would get sick of re-spinning their web and just give up one day.  And yet each day you see them back out there fixing up their web or constructing a new one.

Application: Just as a spider is dedicated in daily web making, so God is dedicated to daily forgiving the sins of those He loves.  In 2 Kings we read over and over again how the kings and the people turned away from God and did evil in His eyes.  And yet, day after day, year after year, generation after generation, God instructs them and brings them back to Himself.  So much so, that after many generations,  He even sends His very own Son to connect with us one-on-one and bring us to Himself.  That is a repeated forgiveness that I will never understand.  But I’m fortunate enough to benefit greatly from God’s repeated grace.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for forgiving me when I do evil in Your eyes.  May I, in turn, offer grace to those I know.  Amen.

How often do you need to forgive someone?
