Power of OnePosted by Linda Bailey in REAP, power, Acts |

It's great if we have a team of people around us but we mustn't forget the Power of One and that God can do amazing things through just one willing person.
Acts 19.1-22
Reference: v.11 God did extraordinary miracles through Paul (NIV Bible)
Explore: Now, I'm all up for team work. I am aware of my weaknesses well enough to know that I need a great team of people around me. However, I can not underestimate the power of one person. Have you ever player basketball with one person missing from your team? The absense of just one person makes a huge amount of difference, and leads the rest of the team to much more sweat and exhaustion! Back in primary school days you had the one teacher for the whole year. If that teacher was fun and engaging it made that year so memorable. However if the teacher was someone you didn't get along with, it had a negative impact on your whole year. One person can make a big difference.
Throughout the whole book of Acts we have been reminded of the lasting power of Jesus, one man who changed the world. The amazing aspect of Jesus is that because He rose from the dead and lives todays He continues to have power through those who follow Him. Paul was a fervent follow of Jesus and God did many great things through him.
Application: If we believe that God is the mighty Creator He is, then we should not doubt that He can use us to continue His impact on the world. No matter what area of influence you may be in, God can do many great things through you. When we read through the Bible and hear of all the mighty followers of Jesus we forget that we are called to do the same. We may not have the gifts to debate in the synagogue like Paul did, but whatever gifts we do have we are called to bring glory to God through them. It's great if we have a team of people around us but we mustn't forget the Power of One and that God can do amazing things through just one willing person.
Prayer: Lord, may I be brave enough to stand for You, whether I'm in a group or out on my own. You are the Mighty Creator and I want to live for You each and every day. Amen.
