Owners Look Like Their PetsPosted by Linda Bailey in REAP, Galatians, character, action |

It seems that people even like to own animals that are similar to them.
Reference: v.7 Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. (NIV Bible)
Explore: In April, 2009 some researchers in the US did a study and discovered that dogs do look like their owners. "Researchers found that members of the public could predict which breed of dog a person would own almost twice as accurately as they should be able to, just by looking at a photograph of their owners." I can understand that people tend to associate with other people who are similar to them but it seems that people even like to own animals that are similar to them. In this study random volunteers were able to align a particular dog with their owner. What does your pet look like?!
Application: In this passage it says that if we have faith in God we are like children of Abraham. He was such a dedicated man of faith and if we have faith in God then we reflect him too. I wonder if random volunteers would be able to align our actions with that of a person of great faith. If someone was to observe us, would they recognise that we are a child of Abraham and therefore a person who has complete faith in God? While it may seem cool to look like your pet, it is more important for our actions to reflect that of a person of faith.
Prayer: Lord, we worry so much about what we look like on the outside. May our actions be those of a person of faith that points others to You. Amen.
If someone was to observe us, would they recognise that we are a child of Abraham and therefore a person who has complete faith in God?
