Not Forgotten

Posted by Linda Bailey in REAPpromiseGenesisfaith

I thought it quite humorous to read that "God remembered Noah".

Genesis 8:1-22

Reference:  v.1  But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded. (NIV Bible)

Explore:  The other night I was cooking our evening meal when our daughter needed assistance with her homework.  She was practicing sight-reading for her Music subject so we went into another room so we could use the piano for assistance.  It took about 10 minutes and just as she was getting a hang of it I suddenly remembered, 'The potatoes!'  I had got so carried away thinking of notes, timing and rhythm that I had totally forgotten about our meal cooking on the stove top in the kitchen.  While most of the meal was redeemable I'm afraid the potatoes were not.  They were so far gone that even the saucepan has only just been redeemed!
While my short-term memory is clearly faulting, God's memory is perfect.  So much so that I thought it quite humorous to read that "God remembered Noah".  I am so use to living in the faith of the promise of Christ, "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."(Matt.28:20b)  It seems unusual to think that God would forget about us.

Application:  And yet, sometimes when life gets really challenging and we are seeking guidance, we feel that God is silent and maybe He has forgotten us.  While we seek Him we don't always hear a clear response.  The storm of life that we are living in seems to last an eternity.  And yet, we must hold on in faith that God will never leave us nor forsake us.  He loves us and promises to always be there for us.  His answer may not come straight away but in time the flood waters will recede and we will experience a new creation from our Heavenly Father.

Prayer:  Lord, forgive us when we doubt You.  Thank You for keeping all Your promises and being with us always. Amen.

Are you waiting on God for an answer or some clarity?
