Make the Most of Every OpportunityPosted by Linda Bailey in witness, REAP, Matthew, Jesus |
|
As Christians we are in the business of spreading the good news about Jesus.
Matthew 10.17-42
Reference: v.18 "On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles." (NIV Bible)
Explore: If you want to do well in business you need to make the most of every opportunity. It often means working long hours and doing the jobs that no one else wants to do, but if you are able to harness all opportunities that come your way then your business is likely to succeed.
Application: As Christians we are in the business of spreading the good news about Jesus. The big question is, are we succeeding? I don't mean are we getting the most salvations or are we preaching on street corners the loudest, but are we making the most of every opportunity that comes across our path?
Jesus was warning the disciples about the challenges of telling people about Him. When he tells them they will be brought before governors and kings it all sounds very glamorous. However Jesus sees it as just another opportunity to witness to people. It doesn't matter where you are or who you are talking to, we can take every opportunity throughout our day to show people that the 'kingdom of heaven is near'.
Prayer: Lord, already in the first 10 chapters of Matthew we can see that you took every opportunity to show your love to all people. May we strive to show your love to the people we meet today. Amen.
