Life's Plot-Line

Posted by Linda Bailey in REAPMatthewlifehope

The best situation is when I go to see a movie that a friend has told me is great but hasn't told me anything about the plot.

Matthew 27.11-26

Reference:  v.22 "What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" Pilate asked.  They all answered, "Crucify him!" (NIV Bible)

Explore:  I love watching movies, but I hate knowing anything that happens during the film before I watch it.   I do enjoy watching preview trailers, however if I go to see a movie in which I  have already seen the trailer I end up ticking off all the scenes in my head that I have already seen.  The best situation is when I go to see a movie that a friend has told me is great but hasn't told me anything about the plot. I sit back and allow the movie to take me on a totally unexpected adventure.
Every time I read or hear the story leading up to Jesus' crucifixion all my emotions are raised all over again.  It's not like I don't know the end of the story!  But there is so much pain and betrayal that the ending always seems so far away.

Application:  In our own lives we do not know what the journey will entail.  We have not been given a glimpse at the preview trailer of our life.  However, we do know that if we love the Lord with all our heart, mind, soul and strength that we will one day be in His glorious Kingdom.  It's almost like a plot that tells you the end at the start of the movie and then goes back in time to show you how it got there.  We may know that we have eternity with God in Heaven, we're just not sure what the journey in between will bring us.  However, if we are able to hold fast to the hope that God has promised then we have something to help us through the difficult times ahead.

Prayer: Lord, you have given us this life and a chance to live eternally with you.  Help us not to lose sight of that when things get dark and difficult here on earth.  Amen.

What part of Jesus' crucifixion seems to grab at your heart the most?
