It’s easy to sing praise when we’re happy and reach out for help when we’re lost, but where does our relationship with God go when we are accomplishing the everyday tasks? Often it’s hard to be patient for that which we really want, however God holds all time in His hands. James 5.1-12Reference: v.7 Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. (NIV Bible)
So often I live to serve myself rather than serving the Creator of the World. James 4.1-17 Reference: v.3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. (NIV Bible)
What does it really mean to live a 'good life'? James 3.13-18 Reference: v. 13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
Our actions need to match up with the words from our mouths James 3.1-12 Reference: v. 2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what they say, they are a perfect person, able to keep their whole body in check.
How difficult is it to hold in balance self-development and giving ourselves for others? James 2.14-26 Reference: v. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that - and shudder.
It's always easier to point the finger at a 'wrong-doer' than acknowledge the wrong things in our own lives. James 2.1-13 Reference: v.10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.
While we are not to forget how we look in the mirror, it does help to be appropriate for the day ahead. James 1.19-27 Reference: v. 25 But the person who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does.
Even during trials we can make gains with God James 1.1-18 Reference: v.2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds. |
