The people of Israel were given forward notice of the Messiah's arrival however He was not bound by their expectations. Zechariah 9.1-17 Reference: v. 9b
The word jealous seems like something negative until you put it in the context of God Zechariah 8.1-23 Reference: v.2 This is what the Lord Almighty says: "I am very jealous for Zion; I am burning with jealousy for her." (NIV Bible)
Rituals can be meaningful and powerful but only if we come with the right intentions Zechariah 7.1-14 Reference: v.5 "Ask all the people of the land and the priests, 'When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months for the past seventy years, was it really for me that you fasted?'" (NIV Bible)
There was a time where God desired the leader of the Church to be in harmony with the leader of the nation Zechariah 6.1-15 Reference: v. 13b And he will be a priest on his throne. And there will be harmony between the two. (NIV Bible)
God does not limit himself to just one way of connecting with us Zechariah 5.1-11 Reference: v.1 I looked again - and there
God can do more in one minute than we can do in a lifetime Zechariah 4.1-14 Reference: v. 6 So he said to me, "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty." (NIV Bible)
How do we treat those we live in close proximity to? Zechariah 3.1-10 Reference: v. 10 "'In that day each of you will invite his neighbour to sit under his vine and fig tree,' declares the Lord Almighty." (NIV Bible)
We often want to build barriers to protect ourselves but the dangerous life of a Christian means the walls are torn down. Zechariah 2.1-13 Reference: v. 4 ... and said to him: "Run, tell that young man, 'Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of men and livestock in it.' (NIV Bible)
While we may not talk to others about our finances, God certainly didn't shy away from discussing it with His people. Zechariah 1.7-21 Reference: v. 17 "Proclaim further: This is what the Lord Almighty says: 'My towns will again overflow with prosperity, and the Lord will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem.'" (NIV Bible)
We may not always have the best example of how to live our lives but we always have the free-will to choose for ourselves. Zechariah 1.1-6 Reference: v. 4a Do not be like your forefathers, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the Lord Almighty says: 'Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.'
